Hello from TASTEDEV,
We would like to introduce TASTEREMOTE, a remote desktop project that lets you view and control a remote computer through a web browser. Install the host app on the PC you want to access, then connect from a browser without installing a separate viewer app. You can use the TASTEDEV-operated server or run your own server.
TASTEREMOTE is under active development as we continue to improve its features and stability. Depending on your setup, you may encounter bugs or features that are not yet fully polished. Please review the supported operating systems and known limitations before getting started.
If you run into a problem or have feedback, please leave a comment or question on the product page. Including your operating system, TASTEREMOTE version, and the steps that led to the issue will help us investigate and improve the project.

For setup instructions and development updates, follow the development log through the Learn more link below.
There is still work to do, and your feedback will help us improve TASTEREMOTE step by step. Thank you for your interest, for trying the project, and for sharing your experience with us.
The TASTEDEV Team
A TASTEREMOTE server can be used for free without a license. Free use covers personal use; to use it in a company or public agency, or to create more accounts, you need a server license. For pricing, see Pricing.

Server license
No limit
The license's number for the whole server (unlimited licenses exist too)
Registered devices are the computers registered in an account's My devices.
With a server license, the free devices each member had go away, and all members of this server share the license's number of devices.
If you add several licenses, their numbers are not added up: the largest number among the licenses that apply is used.
Only the administrator adds licenses. Members add no licenses of their own.

Enter the Install code (in the form TR-2026-XXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX) from your purchase mail or from “My licenses” on tastedev.net and click Add. The server fetches the license file from the license server.
If the server cannot reach the license server, click Paste a file instead, paste the contents of the license file (license.txt) as is, and click Add.
On a server with RD_LICENSE_CLAIM_URL set to off in the server settings (a server without internet access), only the file box shows, with no install code field. You can take out an added license with Remove on its row.
Reading the license page
The badge next to the title is In use or None.
Without a license, the summary line shows "No server license · 10 free devices per member" and how many are registered now; with one, it shows the devices used and the limit, like "7 / 50 devices on the whole server". An unlimited license shows "unlimited".
Without a license, Accounts and Devices show with the free limits, like "1 / 1" and "3 / 10".
Each added license shows Applied or Not applied and its state.
Further down is the record of the license agreement accepted at the first install (version, date, account). See Terms and consent.
Admin — License
The license states are as follows.
State
Meaning
In use · perpetual
A license without an end date.
In use · until a date
Within its term, so it applies.
Provisional file
A provisional license file with an end date. Replace it with the final file before then.
Maintenance ended · keeps working on this server version
The term has ended, but this server version came out before the end, so it keeps applying.
Expired · grace
You use a server version released after the end of the term. It applies only for 14 days after the end.
Expired · not applied
It does not apply.
At the limit
Without a server license, every way of creating a new account is blocked.
Signing up, the administrator's Add member (invitation mails included) and signing up for the first time with a social login all end with "A business or public agency license is required. Free use has a single administrator account".
On a server where users sign up themselves, clicking Sign up on the login page shows the notice "A business or public agency license is required" and License inquiry instead of the sign-up form.
Who creates accounts in Admin › Sign-up can be chosen only after a license is added.
The first account (the administrator) can always be created, even without a license.
Existing accounts keep working. Accounts created with an earlier version, or before a license ended, can still log in and be used. Only creating new accounts is blocked.
When devices reach the limit, no pairing code for registering a new device appears. The administrator is told to add a server license in Admin › License or delete a device, and members are told to ask the server administrator. Devices already registered and their connections keep working, and deleting a device frees a place.
If you take out all server licenses, or they expire and no longer apply, each account goes back to 10 free devices.
The license inquiry link
The License inquiry link shows in the site footer, in the blocked sign-up notice, in Admin › License and in Admin › Sign-up. Where the link goes is set by RD_LICENSE_CONTACT_URL in the server settings.
The default is https://tastedev.net/contact.
You can enter an https:// address or a mailto: address. Use it to send people to whoever handles licenses inside your organization.
With off, all inquiry links are hidden.
RD_LICENSE_CONTACT_URL=mailto:it@example.com
The settings file is /etc/tastedev-remote/tasteremote-signal.env for a package installation and .env for Docker. Restart the server after changing it. For details, see Server installation.
The host app's license agreement
The host app does not ask for agreement when it first runs. The bottom of its window shows "By using TASTEREMOTE you agree to its license agreement." and View terms, which opens the license agreement in the browser.
Tip · The license agreement the administrator accepts when first installing the server is the same GXSOFT agreement. See Terms and consent.
