Admin in the top menu is used only by this server's administrator (the first account created). The tabs are Members, Notices, Sign-up, License, Branding, Updates and Server setup.
Dashboard
Admin in the top menu opens the Dashboard. Move between pages with the menu on the left on wide screens and the tabs at the top on narrow ones. It shows the server version and uptime, the number of connected hosts and sessions, members and devices, and things to check. With RD_SERVER_STATUS=1 in the server settings it also lists connected hosts, active sessions and the access log. These tables show viewers' account emails, never IP addresses.
Members
The member list shows email, login methods, joined, last login, devices and status. The status is one of Active, Invited, Unverified or Suspended.
In Add member, choose how to hand over the password. Without a server license, members cannot be added (Server license).
- Send an invitation mail: Sends an invitation link by mail (valid for 7 days). Needs a mail server.
- Make a temporary password: Shows a 12-character temporary password once. The member must change the password at first login.
Actions on a member row:
- Resend invitation, Resend verification mail
- Reset password: Makes a temporary password and ends all of that member's logins.
- Suspend / Unsuspend: Suspending ends the member's logins, and that member's devices can no longer be connected to.
Sign-up
- Who creates accounts: Users sign up themselves or Only the administrator. A choice here takes precedence over
RD_ALLOW_SIGNUP in the server settings. It can be chosen only with a server license. - Email sign-up: Log in only after email verification (link valid 24 hours) and Forgotten password (link valid 1 hour). Both need a mail server. When email verification is turned on, existing members who have not verified yet must verify at their next login.
- Mail server (SMTP): Server address, port, security (STARTTLS usually 587, SSL/TLS usually 465, or none), account, password and sender. Send test mail sends to the administrator's own address. The password stays on the server only and is never shown on screen again.
- Social login: Kakao, Naver, Google, Apple and GitHub. All are off at first, and you turn each on in four steps: make the app → add addresses → enter keys → test and turn on. The address to give the provider is in the form
https://remote.example.com/api/auth/oauth/<provider>/callback. - Terms of use and privacy policy: Edits the text of the documents members agree to when they sign up. See Terms and consent.
Notices
Enter a title, text (plain text only), type (Info / Warning) and show until (optional) and post it, and it shows as a band at the top of members' My devices. A notice is Live, Ended or Taken down, and you can Edit, Put back up, Take down or Delete it.
Branding
Enter the organization's icon and name, and they show next to TASTEREMOTE in the web header, on the login page and in the browser tab. The icon is PNG, JPEG or WebP, 512 KB or smaller, and 256×256 or larger is recommended. It does not show on the remote session screen or in the host app. Restore default puts it back. In Terms and privacy policy on the same page, enter the operator details shown on the terms pages (Terms and consent).
License
Shows the number of devices you can register and the license. Add the server license by pasting a license file or entering an install code. For details, see Server license. For pricing, see Pricing; for adoption inquiries, see License inquiry.
Updates and server setup
Updates updates a Debian or Ubuntu server installed with packages from the admin pages. See Updates and troubleshooting. Server setup is the nginx and Apache configuration wizard. See Server installation.
Host updates
Only computers that allowed it in their host settings can be picked.
